Houston Street Center
The long-awaited Houston Street Center opened its doors at 273 Bowery
in March 2006. This 44,000-square-foot community building is co-owned
and co-operated by University Settlement and the Chinatown YMCA. With
state-of-the-art recreational and educational facilities, and plenty of
flexible space, the Center is a unique community resource where
longtime residents and recent arrivals can interact in a fun, relaxed
setting.
The Center's success is dependent on a healthy,
thriving partnership with the community. We welcome ideas for creating
a meaningful gathering place that reflects the needs of all users.
