Can anyone use University Settlement's services?

Most of University Settlement's services are offered to residents of the Lower East Side and the surrounding neighborhoods, such as Chinatown and the East Village.

What does it cost to use University Settlement services?

Many of our services are free, while others charge on a sliding scale based on your income. For more detailed information about fees, please contact the specific program in which you are interested.

How can I use the new Houston Street Center?

University Settlement runs many programs for seniors, youth, children and adults at the center. We also host and rent space to other non-profits and community groups to run programs of all kinds, or to have meetings and events. If you are interested in participating in programs call (212) 475-5008. To apply for using space, download an application for space usage, or call 212-475-5008 to inquire.

The Chinatown YMCA will offer memberships as well as community access to the athletic facilities. For detailed information, contact the Chinatown YMCA.

I am interested in learning more about University Settlement's history. Do you have historical archives that I can consult as part of my research?

University Settlement's historical archives are now managed by the LaGuardia and Wagner Archives, and housed at State Historical Society of Wisconsin. They can be located by searching the University of Wisconsin-Madison library catalog.

University Settlement's headquarters houses a limited photo archive that is accessible by appointment only. To learn more, please call (212) 453-0214.

I went to University Settlement Camp in Beacon, New York as a child and would like to contact my former acquaintances from camp. Can you put me in touch with other campers?

If you would like to contact a fellow alumnus or alumna, we will gladly put you in touch, provided we have current contact information. We collect current contact information from alumni when they register to join the University Settlement Camp mailing list.
