News » US Board Member's Translation of a Classic Guide to Burgundian Wine Featured in the NYTimesUniversity Settlement Board Member and Chair of our annual fine wine dinner and auction, Jim Finkel's "charming translation" of the classic A Tribute to the Great Wines of Burgundy: Henry Jayer, Winemaker From Vosne-Romanée was one of six new books recommended by NYTimes wine critic Eric Asimov. Although few have had the opportunity to taste his rare and expensive wines, Burgundy lovers of all persuasions unite in reverence of the legendary vigneron Henri Jayer, who died in 2006 at 84. In 1997, Jacky Rigaux, a French wine writer, published a work based on long conversations with Mr. Jayer. Now, James K. Finkel, a New York wine collector, has produced a charming translation of this short book, "A Tribute to the Great Wines of Burgundy: Henri Jayer, Winemaker From Vosne-Romanée" (Terres en Vues, $42, available through burglit.com).
