News » Director of Early Childhood Programs, Nina Piros, Honored as a "Champion for Children!"

University Settlement's Director of Early Childhood Programs, Nina Piros, received the Golden Heart Award at Child Care Inc.'s annual Champions for Children event on November 2 at the Yale Club of New York City! 

Nina has worked at University Settlement for more than 10 years, during which time she has excelled at designing, implementing and managing a model program that has been recognized with a "Certificate of Excellence" by the Office of Head Start.

Throughout her tenure at University Settlement, Nina has been successful at bringing innovation into each of the early childhood programs by implementing cutting edge curricula, assessment and evidence-based approaches for serving families with children birth to five; supported by a cadre of well-qualified directors, teachers and social service staff.

Nina was honored to share the stage at this year's event with Sandy Socolar, Senior Policy Analyst, District Council 1707 AFSCME who received the Lifetime Children's Advocate Award, and Vanessa Ramos, Deputy Director for Policy, Committee for Hispanic Children&Families who received the Community Leadership Award on behalf of the Latino Coalition for Early Care and Education.  The event was emceed by Lori Stokes, Anchor of WABC, Eyewitness News This Morning and Eyewitness News at Noon.  See below for pictures from the event!
